I know I am not the only person who struggles daily with anxiety and I know it can be extremely hard to handle, especially when you are all out of ideas and are exhausted. So I came up with 5 things I try to help diffuse the situation when it arises with the help from family, friends, the internet, doctors and the world.

Meditation

If you are struggling and beyond stressed, try to find some time to yourself and get away. Dim the lights, get comfy and meditate or if you can’t get away and you’re at work try your best to focus on something in front of you and then focus on your breathing and then breathe in and out deeply.

If you find that meditation helps you a lot then may I suggest trying to find a meditation class nearby and joining for more information, or even watch some YouTube videos that will direct you.

Try to add in some essential oils or hold onto some crystals the next time you meditate. (I’ll go into more detail about these later)

Grounding Exercise

In the midst of a panic attack it’s hard to try to ground yourself and to calm yourself. When you feel one coming on try this tip that I found online. What you do is you look around and find:

  • 5 things you can see
  • 4 things you can feel
  • 3 things you can hear
  • 2 things you can smell
  • 1 thing that you can taste.

This has helped me so much with getting out or getting through a panic attack. I also suggest telling someone close to you or someone you’re with often of this trick and tell them of your signs when you’re going into a panic attack and have them ask you those 5 questions.

Essential Oils

I personally love having a vast variety of essential oils around me. They not only help to improve your mood and everyone around you that can smell them, but they also leaving you smelling good too.

Pick a scent that you like the best and won’t irritate your skin and dab some on your wrists, behind your ears or even try to make your own perfume or room spray.

A few essential oils to help with anxiety and stress is: lavender, eucalyptus, cedarwood, rose and orange.

More about the essential oils:

- Lavender.

Lavender is a very versatile oil. It’s mainly known for its calming effects on the body. It can also help in sleep aid!

- Eucalyptus.

Eucalyptus comes from a tree called eucalyptus globulus. Eucalyptus is wonderful for lifting your spirits and it is a very pleasant smell. It can also help as a sinus decongestant, muscle pain reliever and many more things. Not to mention this is a more ‘manly’ scent.

- Cedarwood.

Cedarwood is extracted from the wood pieces of a cedar tree. This oil helps with stress relief, improves focus and is even a natural sedative.

- Rose.

Rose oil has been used to improve to drive away depression and anxiety. It is believed that rose oil helps to boost self-esteem, confidence and helps build up mental strength.

- Orange.

Orange essential oil is extracted from a sweet orange, citrus sinensis, fruit peels. Orange is known to help improve mood and relieve fatigue as it is commonly used as a mild sedative and an antidepressant.

Crystals

I personally am I firm believer that crystals hold healing properties and I always try to keep at least 3 with me daily in my pocket.

A few that are good for calming are blue lace agate, black tourmaline, clear quartz and amethyst.

More about the crystals:

- Blue Lace Agate.

Blue lace agate has a soothing energy to it. It’s an excellent stone to help with emotional healing and not to mention it’s gorgeous.

- Black Tourmaline.

Black tourmaline helps with repelling and blocking negative energies as it’s a protective stone. Black tourmaline helps to cleanse and purify heavy energy.

- Clear Quartz.

Clear quartz is an excellent crystal with many purposes. This crystal is best for those needing to clear their mind and those who have blockages in their energy.

- Amethyst.

Amethyst is a beautiful crystal that helps with emotional issues. This purple crystal also helps with curing nightmares and fighting insomnia.

A Weighted Blanket

If you happen to be at home when a panic attack happens I personally love to have my weighted blanket nearby. The weighted blanket helps to provide deep pressure touch stimulation without the uncomfortable restriction. The deep pressure from the blanket causes the body to produce serotonin and endorphins, which are the chemicals that our bodies naturally use to feel relaxed.

You can also get custom ones from Etsy made to match your style and personality which is a plus.

I hope that my tips and tricks can help you the next time you have a panic/anxiety attack.
