5 Ways to Beat the Blues

How to Get Through Spouts of Depression with a Positive Mindset

Unfortunately, in life, we go through tough periods where our mentality is all over the place. We feel as though no one understands us and life is simply slipping through our fingers like sand uncontrollable and without hesitation. I've come up with a few ways to help us create a positive mindset and escape the blues.

1. Count your blessings.

Although corny sounding, sometimes we focus on the negative in life. For me when I went through very rough times it was beneficial to name at least three things I am grateful for... like:

  • I have the opportunity to make new decisions each day and start fresh.
  • I have a roof over my head.
  • I have people in my life that love me.

2. Prioritise yourself.

Even if it just 10 minutes a day do something for yourself. Take a long bath, start that painting, write that book, get out in nature.. do anything that you love and do it for you. Accept where you are now and consciously step by step every day love yourself and choose to move forward.

3. Make yourself proud.

This is important! you are special and unlike any other person. You have the capability to do good, be good and make a change. It is about mindset, believe you can do anything and I mean it. It's not the most talented person in the room that wins its the hardest worker. set little goals to start and as you go along challenge yourself.

4. Build positive relationships.

urround yourself with people that are beautiful on the inside. True friends want you to be happy and be the best version of you. Friendships like that can and will help you conquer anything one step at a time.

5. Don't be afraid to talk.

Talk about what hurts... you're not alone, although I know it can be a dark place sometimes. No matter how lonely you feel in your situation, there are people going through the same stuff. When I went through depression I remember the empty feeling but coming out of it I've realized everyone has their demons to overcome no matter who you are. WE ARE NOT ALONE.

P.S. I'm not saying this is a quick fix by any means and this will heal you forever, you will go through more hard times but hopefully, these five things help you to overcome them as they did for me. NEVER GIVE UP. Life is worth living.

I think wisdom acquired from all people is relevant, however, it is we as individuals that need to recognize what is true wisdom and what is false.

Some people act a certain way and some people are a certain way, the differences are subtle.
