You guys all know this monster.

You guys all know this monster. You might not refer to it as a monster but in this story it is. Anxiety is the monster we are going to talk about. A monster so powerful it affects everyone in the world all at once. Some more than others. Let’s start this story in the beginning, before Anxiety was a condition it was a human being. At a time when anyone or anything different was shunned much like today.

Anxiety was a living breathing human being just like you. Living in a world without fear but full of judgement. When Anxiety was a child they were abused by their parents, which you can imagine the trauma that puts on a it. But this wasn't anything new to the people where Anxiety was from. Everyone knew Anxiety's family wasn’t very put together, you could say. The whole town knew that their parents didn’t have the time to take care of Anxiety. And it didn’t help that they were drunks.

When Anxiety was growing up in school they got bullied a lot. Mostly because they looked different and because of their family. Kids at school physically and verbally abused Anxiety for eight years. Anxiety never understood why everyone hated them, all they wanted was to have a friend and to fit in but everyone in the town thought Anxiety was different and in the town different was bad. With the abuse from both Anxiety's parents and classmates, they started to not want to take they abuse any longer and Anxiety wanted to take the advice of everyone around them. They all told Anxiety to kill itself. And Anxiety started to want to.

Anxiety's parents found them peacefully on the floor with antidepressants pill bottles all around it. When Anxiety overdosed it became a supernatural form that could put thoughts into anyone's head.

Once Anxiety realised the kind of power it was capable of, its immediate thought was to get back at everyone who hurt it. Anxiety wanted them to feel the same fear that it felt when Anxiety was alive. Wanted them to live in fear and shame just like Anxiety.

After years of Anxiety being dead it started to realize that it could affect more people than just the people that hurt them. It could hurt anyone it wanted to. Anxiety is constantly in people's head telling them false information hoping they will fear everyday they live. That's when Anxiety realised its goal in life. Its goal was to "infect" as many people with fear and doubt as it could. It wanted everyone to feel terrible about themselves, it wanted to drive everyone off the cliff of internal self hate it wanted everyone to die just like it did. Anxiety wanted revenge.

Today is September 25, 2017. And yes Anxiety still exists today but it is a lot more powerful now than it ever was. It affects more than fifteen million people a day and sadly that number is still growing. And the only solution we can think of at the moment to cure Anxiety to try and fight it is giving anyone with it drugs hoping that it will cover it up. Because the truth is that nothing has changed since Anxiety was alive except now people can put a name to the problem they can label it which usually helps us humans. If we can identify something it makes us feel more safe. But 15 million people are infected with Anxiety everyday. It’s like having the flu but there is no cure except death. But dying would be giving in to the monster. That would be feeding Anxiety, giving it fuel to infect anyone else it could get its hands on. The reason this monster is so powerful and the reason it can infect so many people all at once with no break is because the suicide rate has been increasing so much over the years that it's giving the monster what it wants. It’s feeding the burning fire that makes up Anxiety. Think of it like a fire; what happens when you have a calm flame and you dump gasoline on it? It explodes. It’s the same with Anxiety; it's affecting people at a constant rate but as soon as some gives up, as soon as someone gives in, anxiety gets more confidence and attacks more and more people. And the only way to kill a monster is to stay alive long enough to fight it.
