Are you Coping?

Self-Care

How are you dealing with life stressors? Do you practice healthy coping techniques?

If not, it's not too late.

Coping is dealing with responsibilities and problems and overcoming them. 

Not only that, coping is what we do when we are stressed, alone and, anxious.

Some people smoke to cope, while others exercise or do a physical activity. 

Some people drink alcohol and use other drugs to cope, others find someone to talk to (therapist, counselor, family or friend).

Some people eat excessively when trying to cope, others practice mindfulness. 

We do so many things and often times we don't think about whether or not it's healthy. 

Train yourself to see the best in every situation. This is the best way to develop healthy techniques. 

While coping with life stressors may not be easy, learning ways to deal with these issues could potentially save someone's life.

Not being able to cope could cause a weak minded individual to commit suicide or, overdose on drugs. 

Not being able to cope can make you feel like "it will never end."

Not being able to cope will automatically create negative patterns/ways of thinking or, what we consider distortions.

Become aware of your coping techniques. Are they healthy? What should you do more of? What haven't you tried?

Journaling is one of the best techniques that help with coping. Some people journal daily, while others may journal weekly or occasionally. 

It doesn't really matter when you journal, the point is to get in the habit of writing down your thoughts. 

Journaling is a way to express how you feel about a situation, a person or, life in general. 

More than likely, someone will journal about you at some point in life. Whether they say good or bad things, is completely up to them.

Journaling is private, so no one has to see what or who you journal about. If you get yourself in the habit of journaling, you may not ever want to stop.

Journaling can be the first step you take to becoming an author.

Journaling brings self awareness. Self awareness is having conscious knowledge of yourself.

Journaling is truly a great technique.

There are other coping techniques that are useful. For children, artwork, cooking, deep breathing exercises and meditation works.

Playing with tangible objects is also a form of coping.

Meditation is something that works for any age group. This is another healthy technique. This technique is a commonly used.

Adults may use artwork, reading, exercising, talking to someone or, participating in fun/healthy activities to cope. 

On the other hand, there are the unhealthy techniques described early on. Drug use is very common.

Children tend to throw temper tantrums and get upset if they are unable to cope. Some cry.

As you get older, it is important to know that it is up to you to live a healthy life & make smart choices.

Problems may arise but, being confident that you can get through them is what's most important.

Being able to handle stressful circumstances tells a lot about you. Although you have nothing to prove. Self-care is what you deserve. 

Coping is a form of self-care. Self-care is always necessary.

Healthy coping strengthens you and makes you a better person. It can also give you the strength to share your issues and help someone else who may be dealing with the same issues. 

How you cope does not have to make sense to anyone else, as long as you choose to be healthy.

There are always ways to overcome issues of life. It all starts with your mental.
