We all deal with a mental disorder at one point in our lives. It's time to create a bigger awareness for this and quiet the stigmas down.

We often link anxiety with depression and stress but the truth is, anxiety may present itself in many different ways. Believe it or not, it is a normal emotion we all feel at some point in our lives, whether it's dealing with the issue to pay our bills or studying for our test. Sometimes, it can feel like the most stupid and insignificant thing to worry about but deep down it's triggering that anxiety in you to build up slowly. So what does anxiety actually feel like? The shaking of your hands? An intolerable chest pain? Perhaps both your head and heart are racing to the speed of light or maybe you feel a sudden urge to jump out of your skin, run from your life...anxiety comes differently to everyone. What affects us might not affect others.

Let me introduce myself: as a 16-year-old studying for A-Levels and dealing with depression alongside very poor mental health, Anxiety is a big blow. It just adds a whole lot of pressure when it's very much unnecessary for me. I was only properly diagnosed with depression disorder this year, though it rooted since I was 12 years old and I'm still battling against it. Not many people are aware of what I've dealt or am dealing with. Those who have any kind of mental disorder such as: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder will agree that it's awfully difficult to reach for help or tell others, yet it's not exactly easy to deal with it on your own either and most of the time you are forced to live in the middle, debating and creating even MORE conflict with yourself. 'Should I get help? Who should I tell?' You even find yourself opening up your laptop and opening up a new tab before typing in, 'How to get rid of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, etc.' As if it were that easy, perhaps you'll find a Youtube tutorial too! It just seemed like whatever I did, I did wrong. And when you have to reach for help most of the time you don't know who's around. It's a terrifying thing to think about. Especially when you realise you're going to have to fight for it continuously.

For me, dealing with anxiety has made life ten times more difficult but life's all about overcoming obstacles right? We do not have to let an anchor like anxiety weigh us down to the bottom of the sea.

Many people say, "It's okay to be not okay." As much truth as that holds, I think we ignore that being happy is okay too. With any kind of mental illness, it's hard to let any positive thoughts in, easier said than done am I right? But I'm going to contradict myself a little here and tell you to get help, whether it is asking advice from a friend, teacher, parent..anyone. You may have a long journey ahead of you, think things through, take your time and do what makes YOU happy. Don't satisfy the needs of others if it makes you uncomfortable and unhappy. Dealing with anxiety, depression or any other mental disorder requires your help. (Along with other people too, but mainly you.) Sit down, figure things out. What's making you unhappy and what's weighing you down. Keep moving forward and working on you. It is YOUR life, YOU decide what to do and how to do it.

You have to remember this, it does get better. It is a long journey through wellbeing but it is so worth it. And though I have not yet gotten rid of it I am taking that journey. Some days simply seem more gloomy than others, sometimes that small problem in your mind grows and begins to oppress your wellbeing. Whatever it is. You're able to get through it.
