The top hit musical Dear Evan Hansen has hit the hearts of so many people across the country. This show is so empowering and expresses so many important themes about love, friendships, and many more. I say this show is underrated. People need to watch this show, because of the huge impact it has on people of all ages.

About four months ago, I learned about this spectacular show from my friends. I looked into it on social media, and learned that the show was about a high schooler, who suffers from a social anxiety disorder, that experiences traumatic events through a teen suicide. At first, people might think that, from just reading the description and looking at the poster, that this looks like a very depressing musical, and therefore doesn't seem interesting. Like most people, this was my first approach to the musical, and I decided to not look into the songs at all and just ignored it. Later, I learned that this very musical had won so many awards. I started to acknowledge this fact and started to convince myself that this musical could be outstanding. Remembering that the historical musical that left many people awestruck, Hamilton, which I fell deeply in love with like other thespians, I decided to give it a go. Little did I know that I was going to be listening to one of the greatest Broadway soundtracks ever.

First of all, let me just say that there is so much to this musical, it is mind-blowing. After listening to the music and reading the synopsis, it didn't surprise me that all these awards were given to this hit show. Let me start with the cast. Every cast member was chosen, perfectly. What struck me the most is when I looked into the background of some of these actors and actresses, they all came from such different parts of the entertainment world. For example, Ben Platt, who plays the title role in the show, was recently a part of the Pitch Perfect movie franchise in which he starred as supporting role. When I heard Platt's voice for the first time in "Waving Through A Window," I did a double take. I had serious doubts that that was him. He was amazingly talented and had one of the best singing voices out there. Honestly, I couldn't have casted the show any better. Each actor and actress played their role so perfectly, they just thrived and nurtured naturally in their characters.

Next, gosh, don't get me started on the music. The show tunes in this show are some of the most empowering and inspiring songs I have heard. One of the most amazing things about the songs in this show, is that every song plays a crucial part in the musical, without a specific song, the show could not go on. For me, it feels like every song conveys a different theme and lesson that needed to be taught. If you go and see this show, I can assure you will walk out of the theater a completely different person. You see, I never really saw myself as an emotional guy when it came to watching or listening to sad entertainment, but this musical, I started to cry quietly when I heard "For Forever" and "If I Could Tell Her." Overall, the music in this musical can make people so emotional, but can also teach people life lessons that they will keep silent in their hearts for forever.

The last thing I am going to talk about is the amazing themes that are showcased throughout the story. As I stated before, I feel that every song has a different story to tell, a different lesson to teach. Throughout the show, you will learn more about love, friendships, courage, but you will also learn about the terrible truth about drugs and violence. If I have to choose one particular theme that I learned a lot about, it's probably going to be individuality. Being yourself is so important and every human being on this planet should have the right to be the person they want to be. Don't hide who you are. Overall, never doubt yourself. Evan Hansen, at the beginning of the show, always told himself that just because he was shy and wasn't fully comfortable communicating with people, he was an outcast everywhere he went. "On the outside always looking in, will I ever be more than I've always been?"

Even though I have not seen this show yet, I still am deeply in love with every aspect of it. Whenever a new clip of the musical is released on YouTube or if one of the cast members is going to be interviewed on a talk show, I always put those videos on my priority list to watch. Dear Evan Hansen has touched to souls of many people, and I believe that every person in this country, in this world, can learn something. I can also assure you that you will be fascinated by everything about this show. If you can afford it and if you live in New York City, Dear Evan Hansen is a must-see.

Sincerely,

Me.
