Frustrations

Pet Peeves

I like to think I am a laid-back, carefree girl. This is not true. Not. At. All. I have many irritations throughout the day: Being startled awake by knocking at my door; repetition of my alarm; slow people on the road; rude people in general; disrespect to anyone's personal life; constant swearing; disrespect to anyone's religion; singing words wrong. I could make a whole list of the little pet peeves and irritations I have during the day. Everyone has things that annoy them of course, but it's important to not let these things stop us from living our life. If we are too focused on the things that limit us, we will never be able to live up to our full potential. So the solution? Think of all the wonderful things that are in this world. Can't think of any? I'll give you a list.

You are living and breathing. The warmth of the sun on a cold day. The cool breeze on a hot day. Humility. Smiles. A babies' belly laugh. Joy. Love. Hope. Knowledge. Wisdom. Rain. Thunder. Light. The sun. The moon. The stars. Rivers. Clouds. Shade in the summer. Heat in the winter. Growth. A child's innocence. Rainbows. Dogs. Cats. Your favorite animal. Your favorite tv show. Your family, whether they are blood or not. Your friends. Tall people. Short people. Trees that give us air to breath. Flowers that we can smell. Snowball fights. Snow angels. Beach days. Amusement parks. Your favorite color. Jokes. Puns. Stupidly funny faces you make at your friends. Comics. Movies. Is this enough? How about some more?

Hugs. Kisses. Babies. Human or animal, you can choose. Kindness. Charities. Shelters. Homes. Food. Water. Chocolate. Candy. Money. Music. Artists. Imagination. Stories. Sight. Smell. Words. Cows. Have you ever seen a hedgehog? They are so cute. What about baby falcons? They're little puff balls of anger and they are so adorable. And penguins! They are so fluffy and they can't fly but they can swim really well, and they like fish. How about platypus? "They don't do much." -Phineas and Ferb. But seriously. They sweat milk and lay eggs, but are still mammals. Also, otters. They sleep holding hands so they don't lose each other!! Nature is so fascinating and beautiful.

You are in control of how you react. You can live so many different lives if you use your imagination. You can make a difference in someone's life just by smiling at them. You make a difference simply because you exist. If you may or may not know, the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" shows a man who thinks that the world would have been better if he hadn't been born. At the end, he saw all the lives he had saved, and the people he'd helped.

If I didn't exist, I wouldn't have saved my best friend from suicide. If I didn't exist, my mom wouldn't have an extra helper or babysitter. If I didn't exist, I wouldn't be able to see the beauty of this world. Yes, there are horrible things happening, but how can you know happiness if you've never known sadness? How would we know beauty if we didn't know what ugly is? How could we know love if we didn't know what hate is? We suffer through hard things so that we can help others going through what we have, but maybe a little easier than what we went through. We suffer so we can have peace. So the next time you think of the bad, also think of the good. Because there is so much good in this world. Think of the good. It can save your life.
