Paranoid Personality Disorder

Paranoid personality disorder is a paranoia-related personality disorder. People with schizophrenia get paranoid about who they can trust, as well as why they should trust people. People with PPD if that is even my case, can feel suspicious about whether or not they can trust a person. Paranoid people feel suspicious about the intentions of others. Paranoid people look for clues as to whether or not they can trust the person they are suspicious about. They see that the person in question is not trustworthy even if that person has proven to them they are.

Paranoid people are guarded and suspicious about stuff they go through, without expressing emotion all the way. When you are schizophrenic and paranoid, you are doubly paranoid since schizophrenia causes paranoia as one of the symptoms. I generally imagine that people are saying mean things about me. I have real trauma from being bullied, so my voices take on the way bullies speak to me. Paranoid people are sensitive to being rejected. I grew out of my paranoias by getting used to it. People who are paranoid can be combative, able to pick fights, and also be paranoid about their partner being unfaithful. Paranoid people are self-sufficient with a strong sense of autonomy, meaning if it doesn’t get done, they have to do it themselves. PPD people have doubt about other’s good intentions as well as their loyalty. Schizophrenia is another psychotic disorder I already have so generally those with paranoid personality are not schizophrenic as well.

The causes of paranoid personality disorder are both biological as well as genetic situations, even social factors. Paranoid people are deeply suspicious of those around them. Schizophrenics are naturally paranoid about things around them so in which case, paranoid personality is separate from the schizophrenia. Treatment for any personality disorder starts with seeing a therapist skilled in handling the disorder. Individuals with personality disorders often do not go for getting treatment. Currently, there is not enough research on paranoid personality disorder to figure out what types of therapy work, only that psychotherapy is useful to the sufferer.

People with paranoid personality disorder do not know that their paranoid beliefs are not based in reality. They are so paranoid that they cannot trust the people around them even if they know they can. Schizophrenic paranoia is almost like that as well. Medication can be very helpful for paranoid personality disorder. Therapists need to present themselves as trustworthy in order to prove to the patient that they can trust them. PPD people have major trust issues no matter how you look at it. Anti-anxiety medications do help paranoid people get a grip and be less paranoid.
