The Struggles of Any Relationship with PTSD

When you start a relationship, you need to remember to take things slow. When dating, you have to take things slow in order to make things work out right. Being in a relationship with someone means you get to spend time with each other, go on dates, be there for each other, and most importantly say I love you whenever you can. Being in a relationship is not always about sex but about sharing a bond that two people who are meant to be together can share.

Love is the key to any relationship and without love, there's nothing to the relationship. You may deal with ups and downs in any relationship but as long as you work things out you'll be just fine. For example, my relationship with my boyfriend had some ups and downs but we still managed to make things work. As time goes by you get to know each other more, learn new things together, and build a good, strong, stable, healthy relationship. There's a lot you can do together when in a relationship like go for a dinner and a movie, or a walk around the park, or go do something fun.

Some relationships move on to getting married and some stay in a dating relationship. The reason why I say that is because I see so many of my friends that I went to school with are married or getting married, while my boyfriend and I are staying in a dating relationship. Not all relationships end with a marriage proposal. Some people get married and some people don't. For example, I got this beautiful tiara shape engagement ring but that doesn't mean that my boyfriend and I are getting married. The reason why I wear the ring is because I'm getting tired of other men trying to flirt with me. So I wear a ring on my left ring finger to show that I'm taken by my boyfriend. Anyways, it's okay to be in a dating relationship and still have kids. My boyfriend and I are in a dating relationship and plan on having kids together. Each relationship is different for each person who is in a relationship. I love the relationship that I'm in with my boyfriend because I'm always there for him when he needs me.

Now if you're in a relationship with a firefighter who witnessed some terrifying things and suffers from PTSD, then you also need to be their support system. Trust me when I say that is because my boyfriend suffers from PTSD due to a wild fire that was spreading too fast. He still has nightmares about that day and will wake up in the middle of the night. When that happens just wait until they calm down before touching them to see if they're okay. Being in a relationship with anyone who suffers from PTSD, you have to be careful when they start having PTSD nightmares. Just be there for them so they know they're not battling it alone. I'm my boyfriend's support system because I sometimes get text messages from him after he has a nightmare. When that happens I try to talk to him until he calms down enough to go back to sleep. So I suggest that you try to do something comforting to help the person you love who is dealing with PTSD.

Dealing with PTSD is hard when in a relationship with someone who has PTSD. They may have a hard time opening up about the nightmares but let them bring the topic up first because it will be easier for them to open up. I had a hard time helping my boyfriend with his PTSD until he finally opened up to me about the nightmares and what happened. So when dealing with PTSD in a relationship, just be there for them and be their support system. Also remember that no one battles PTSD alone.
