That Person You Think Is Crazy, Might Not Be

Memoirs of a Wicca Witch

The fire in your soul will light your path

I have just learned a very disturbing fact about my family. My brother and sister used to spread rumors to my other family about how I was clinically insane. I was diagnosed as schizophrenic at one point, my family took that and used it as a weapon to hurt an already deeply hurting soul. It turns out that years later, I have found out that I'm not crazy.

I have telekinesis developing, witnesses to confirm. I can now willfully access someones subconscious memories, witnesses to confirm that as well, I can feel things and come to know them. There is an actual word for it, but I forget what its called. Empath, is one of them. I can communicate very easily with spirits, and my experiences doing seances for others confirms to myself and others that I most definitely and defiantly, am not in fact, crazy.

This, in a very important way, deeply saddens me. I spent so many hours, days, and minutes buying into the idea that I was crazy. Hoping that there was a pill for this kind of madness. Feeling from my extended family, that they somehow knew about the hospital, when my mother assured me over and over again that she had not told them and that they did not know.

I did not see any signs in their behavior towards me per se, they were not rude. I could not ever ignore the fact that I was very much alone in the crowded room of my family. I did notice that they rarely would talk to me and their eyes would shift like they were afraid of my next move.

I let things like this, from everyone around me, change the view I had on myself. That fills me with deep regret. My brother has said in a drunken stupor last night, "I was naive, it was much easier to believe that the world around me was normal and you were simply crazy."

I realized that this was reflecting more than just his view. This clearly was the view of my entire family, the doctors, and everyone who had ever debilitated me. How different would things have been if I had ignored the notion that I was crazy? How might my health have recovered if I had refused to take the plethora of medicines that I tried to use to support the idea that the world was normal and I was the one that was crazy?

I thought that this gnawing in my stomach at 4 AM was indicative of the idea that I felt betrayed and unforgiving. The truth is, I'm above dwelling on those things now, and what my intuition was trying to tell me all night long was actually this:

"Never again will I allow the opinions of others, no matter how close our ties, affect my sanity. No longer will I allow the views of others to dictate how I live my life or how I view myself. Never again will I cause such harm to myself in order to prove someone else right and myself wrong when I know otherwise. Never again will I hurt myself simply because there are people who do not understand, believe, and may not ever understand my gifts. This cycle that has existed for 26 years must now come to an end. I will remember, that even if the world around me never understands who I am, I must understand who I am, and hold onto that for dear life because it will be the only thing that keeps me from drowning again. In a world that wants to normalize, I will be brave and only keep the truth."

With that, the gnawing feeling has left me, and I have found peace again.
