The First Step to Getting Out of an Anxiety Mindset

This is not an overnight situation. This is all about manipulating your mindset for a good purpose. I believe in you. You got this!

Now, reaching the point where you can identify when you’re starting to head into a negative mindset, and being able to change that fast and effectively to benefit yourself, isn’t something that will come overnight. However, if you follow some of these steps, it could help you identify when you need to change your mindset and how I managed to reach this. I have been a depressed man, and a positive man, and I chose positivity every time!

1. Finding Your Focus Zone

Now, in my personal opinion, having a focus zone that you can concentrate on and give your sole focus to, even for a minute or two, can be something that can make or break a situation.

Now, what do I mean by a focus point? This can be anything from a hobby, a project your working on, a pet, kids, to your partner—the list is endless! For me, it was my solo heavy metal project. I would play the backing tracks live and perform the vocals. Then I would write my own music and record at home. Whenever I would start to have an anxiety attack or start to zone out into a negative mindset, I would think how I could improve my live performance, come up with new lyrics, come up with guitar melodies, etc. And for those few minutes, I would be able to create such a distraction that I would forget that I was panicking about something.

Now you can easily do this. Your focus point is a pet? Think about new places you could take them, how they are going to react when they see you. Your focus point is your next car event? Think about what you're going to look out for, what things you want to buy. You can do this for nearly anything. Find a focus point, then ask yourself questions about it and answer away. Nine times out of 10, you will spiral off into a train of thought and distract yourself from the issue you were worrying about.

When is the right time to start having a focus point?

There’s no real answer to this, and only you will know when you need o start having one. Do you feel depressed? Do you suffer from anxiety? Then this is the perfect time for you to find your focus point. Even if you don’t, knowing that you have one is always a reassurance in the back of your mind just in case.

In life, we are always pushing towards one point, wether it’s a paycheck, or buying that amazing house or dream car. This is the same just in your mind. Looking after yourself and wellbeing is so important and I don’t think enough people in this world know this. If you shut down the main driver of the body, then what do you have left? Nothing. Don’t ever feel you aren’t good enough to take care of yourself. You need to make you a priority. Always.
