I'm going to tell you a story.

Here is a guy who grows up in pain. He came from an unstable household where father figures were in and out and his mother was addicted to prescription drugs. Because father figures never stayed long, it was just this young boy and his mother.

This boy was forced to mature quickly out of the necessity to care for his mother.

She was heavily dependent on him, counting on him to be the man of the house and unknowingly provide her with more of what she was addicted to.

Whenever she didn't get want she wanted, she'd attack this boy.

She'd bash his head against the wall. She'd pour liquid soap down his throat until he threw up. She'd wrongfully accuse him of lying and excessively abuse him for it. As he grew up, she'd be more aggressive towards him, fearing that he would leave. Being that he was the source for her needs, she didn't want him to leave for college.

Now, let's fast forward a few decades.

This boy, now a man, becomes one of the top businessmen and humanitarians in the world.

He's a billionaire. He's sold multiple best-selling books and proceeded 100 percent of the revenue to Feeding America. He's helping people find their breakthrough in all aspects of life. He's fixing broken relationships. He's healing broken people. He's helping people gain financial freedom. He's helping entrepreneurs build their business. He's changing lives for a living. He's providing tremendous value to the world.

Any idea who this guy is?

It's Tony Robbins.

Tony has been someone I've been following for some time now. In search of my own breakthrough, I knew there was no one better to learn from than Tony.

Anyway, I was in the middle of Tony's Netflix Special, I Am Not Your Guru, when I heard it.

He's communicating life-changing messages from beginning to end, but there was a single thing he said that just changed the game for everyone.

He was talking to a young woman whose had a tough relationship with her father, a victim of substance abuse. She was significantly angry and hurt over her father's actions. Tony then brought a new perspective to her that changed the way she saw her relationship with her father.

Tony began by reiterating that if he hadn't suffered to the extent that he did with his mother, he wouldn't have became the man he is today. The same concept applies to the young woman, to me, to you, to all of us.

It's in the middle of this powerful talk when Tony says it:

Life is happening for us, not to us.

Once I heard that, a light bulb flashed in my head and my perception of life was forever changed.

The problems in our lives are not there to set us back. Problems are put in our lives to help us grow. Problems instill the qualities in us that help us reach our full potential.

Take a second look at the painful experiences in your life.

Look at them with a new lens.

Rather than focusing on the pain in itself, figure out where the growth is. Figure out how the experience helped make way for your development.

This shift of perspective transforms your painful experience into an empowering one. The pain still remains, but it will not be as significant as the self-progression that came to follow.

With this mindset, our level of suffering instantly drops.

We will live with a sense of clarity within the ups and downs of our lives. The newfound understanding that all aspects of life, good and bad, are happening for our own good will redefine life as we know it.

Are you ready to begin living life in a new light? Are you ready to see a transformation in your way of life? Are you ready to begin living the life that you once thought hypothetical? I know I am.

Really appreciate it, Tony!
