Living with anxiety can be incredibly difficult. When you struggle with anxiety, everyday tasks can seem insurmountably difficult, and frightening. Simple activities—even those that you enjoy—can be taxing. and upsetting. For an estimated 40 million adults, these sorts of struggles are daily occurrences. But none of this means that anxiety cannot be managed.

Facing down anxiety is no fun, but you can do things to bring your symptoms under control. With the right treatments, allies, and strategies, you can fight back, and bring control, and joy back to your life. While no single method is foolproof, a combination of strategies could help you wrest control of your life back from your anxiety. Here are a few suggestions that might work—for more, talk to a mental health professional who specializes in anxiety.

Do yoga or meditate.

Getting a little “time out” can be key to getting back in the flow of things when anxiety comes calling. Yoga and meditation are great ways to clear your mind, and they’ll help center you, and calm you down before you return to tackle whatever task or situation was bothering you.

Of course, yoga and meditation are not your only options. Don’t be afraid to do something simple like just taking a walk around the block. It could be all you need to get back on track!

Try CBD, the natural anxiety cure.

You’ve probably heard of CBD by now. The chemical that is derived from the drug marijuana is all the rage in medical and natural health circles right now. But you may not have full, and accurate information, because CBD-related buzz includes a lot of hype and nonsense.

Here’s the reality: CBD is a natural thing, an active chemical found in the drug marijuana. It is non-psychoactive, which means that it won’t get you high on its own. It is easy to ingest in a variety of forms, from vape pens to tinctures to edibles. And it is known to treat symptoms of anxiety. That makes it a great and convenient option for those of us who could use a bit of help with our anxiety. For more on CBD, check out reliable sources such as The cbd insider.

Take a vacation.

Anxiety is with us all of the time, but its power can ebb, and flow depending on other factors such as genuine stresses, and busy personal schedules. You don’t need to have anxiety to suffer from things such as work-related stress, and burnout, but you will deal with those things in a more severe, and dangerous way if you are already predisposed to have anxiety-related symptoms.

That’s why it is particularly important for those of us with anxiety to handle our work-life balance with care. If you take a trip, it could give your mental health a boost and make you more productive. So head to the Oregon coast, or down to an island retreat. A vacation destination can really be a “site for shore eyes,” say the experts at The Mill Casino Hotel & RV Park—and that’s a joke with a lot of truth to it.

See a therapist.

Personal strategies, and health supplements will go a long way toward helping you get back in control of your life, but make no mistake: Anxiety is not something that you should be tackling alone. You need to enlist the help of a trained, and licensed mental health professional. That person can be a psychiatrist, psychologist, or therapist. As long as you’re getting help, that’s a good start! Your mental health provider can then help you choose strategies like the ones above to help limit the impact of your anxiety. You may also try other things, including medicine. With a professional on your side, you’ll have a better shot at tackling your anxiety and reclaiming your happy, healthy life.
